The SIMtone Virtual Cloud Computing platform consists of 3 elements: (1) a Virtual service platform, (2) a Universal Virtual Client Platform called SNAPs, and (3) the SIMtone Universal Provisioning Platform that connects any combination of them.
The SIMtone Universal Provisioning Platform is a Tier 1 carrier grade universal service provisioning platform. It is the first data and state – less, protocol-independent, network-based, carrier platform that automatically provisions and manages connectivity, security, service session , service features and user devices on the fly, for any number of virtual hosted services, acting much like a dial tone service. The SIMtone platform allows Operators to provision their own SIMtone dialtone and enable Virtual Cloud Computing Services on their networks
The Virtual Service Platform hosts, scales and enables the service features that get delivered via the SIMtone. Examples of SIMtone Services include:
- Enterprise-hosted Desktop Servers – Terminal Servers or Virtualized Desktop Servers, including those running Microsoft, VMware, Xen, or other software. Desktops can be either Windows or Linux.
- "Virtual PCs" – Desktops for Consumers or Small Businesses that are hosted "in the cloud", freeing the customer from the expense and hassle of buying, securing, and maintaining their own PCs.
- "Virtual Handsets" – Mobile Services for Consumers and Enterprises, freeing Users, Businesses and Operators from the hassles of securely provisioning each device for each service and application.
- Multi-Media Collaboration Servers – Servers providing low cost, multi-party voice, video, and data collaboration for businesses and consumers, accessible from any device on the fly.
- Video Entertainment – Servers delivering access to entertainment services in the cloud seamlessly accessible from any device the user owns such as TVs, PCs, handsets etc.
Virtual Service Platforms can be owned and operated by Network Operators, Enterprises, Government Agencies, by SIMtone Corporation, or others to deliver SIMtone Services, simply and safely anywhere.
The Universal Client Platform, called SNAP, is a single, small footprint, software platform that can be used to quickly develop and build SIMtone Terminals of any sort, from browser based applets, to PC applications, to hardware devices in any form factor. Today, SNAPs are either software that runs in a browser or directly on a PC or laptop, or small, low-cost hardware terminals such as the SNAP One. SNAP software is currently also be embedded into cell phones, PDAs, home TV systems, and several other devices.
SIMtone Products and Services tie it all together in a very easy-to-use fashion. The user simply enters their subscriber ID and selects which service they want. The SIMtone delivers it quickly and securely.

"SIMtone Corporation capitalizes on Microsoft Virtual Server, VMware ESX Server or, better yet, free Xen running on the central server. SIMtone transports interactions between end user and server and displays the results on a wide variety of end user machines, including a browser window or on simple thin clients, giving it a great flexibility in end user devices. The enterprise sets up what virtual machines and applications it wants end users to have. SIMtone delivers the results."
