SIMtone Technology Differentiators

Instant access to any computing environment from
any device, on any broadband IP connection
  • Protocol independent: The SIMtone connects to any open rendering protocol, from desktop/application rendering to media and sound protocols, and normalizes them. This creates a single network infrastructure to carry all the protocols on demand, automatically presenting them to a Universal Virtual Client. Hence, SIMtone terminals can natively access any computing environment on demand.
  • The SNAP Universal Virtual Client Platform is ultra-thin and can be implemented in a variety of form factors - desktop devices, portable devices, handsets, set top boxes, etc. - as a hosted application, browser applet, dedicated x86 software, or low cost custom firmware.
  • SIMtone software and hardware SNAP terminals are provisioned automatically on LAN and Internet connections. No end user or IT intervention is required.
  • Seamless and persistent rich end user mobile experience across LAN and Internet connections as well as NAT (Network Address Translation).
  • Device capability recognition: User interaction is dynamically and automatically adjusted on SNAP terminals with different capabilities, by each SIMtone Server/Service.
Absolute Security
  • No data of any type is ever transmitted through the SIMtone network. All SIMtone network components, connectivity and authentication models, and service session delivery methods are 100% stateless across the network. No user data, state, or data center authentication information traverses or persists anywhere on the network at any time. SNAP terminals can be disposed of, or lost, without any trace of user interaction with any service.
  • The SIMtone network connectivity model is based on servers initiating outbound connections to devices, following the authentication of the end user.
  • Stateless authentication: SIMtone authentication provides a configurable stateless user authentication step before any additional internal server-based authentication is exposed to a device. Based on this authentication step, users can be restricted to specific IP addresses, device types and service features, without exposing internal authentication systems to hackers.
Operational Simplicity
  • No end point legacies to manage, configure or maintain. SNAPs are universal virtual terminals which are server and content agnostic. They are automatically provisioned even when connected through the Internet.
  • No network or access legacy restrictions: The SIMtone is network agnostic and rides seamlessly over physical and virtual private networks, as well as the "untrusted" Internet. It relies on secure channels, such as site-to-site VPN, where available, and automatically enables secure access from unsecure channels on demand.
  • Rapid deployment: Scalable on demand. Add servers and services by connecting them to standard SIMtone Connectors. No additional engineering or build-out necessary. All users can instantly access the new applications from any SNAP.
  • Rapid development: Build custom service drivers and connectors and deliver custom protocols without requiring complex application designs/redesigns or end point upgrade or deployment.
  • Activate, manage and profile end users, access privileges, and service features, on demand, from the network, for any server or server farm.
  • Lower cost: 70% reduction in enterprise desktop TCO, and massive reduction in Cost of Subscriber Acquisition (CSA) for service providers.
Carrier-Grade Scalability and Availability
  • The SIMtone infrastructure is already implemented and available today, and is SLA-based, fully redundant, and geographically diverse, with seamless failover. Methods and operational models are made available to SIMtone Operators, whether Carriers or Enterprises.
  • 100% stateless design and the consistent one-to-one session-to-endpoint relationship model of the SIMtone network facilitate the use of infrastructure implementation methods that are low in cost but deliver carrier-grade scalability and availability.
  • SIMtone operational simplicity enables enterprises to provision their own carrier-grade SIMtone or buy it from third-party operators. In either case, all enterprise servers/services will be seamlessly accessible by the end user.
  • The roaming-enabled, federated SIMtone provisioning model enables enterprises and operators to provision multiple "SIMtones" on the global network, guaranteeing seamless access coverage to end-users without sharing their authentication data.
