http://www.ottawabusinessjournal.com/288846367336285.php Ottawa-based desktop virtualization tool developer Thintropy Inc. has been acquired by XDS Inc. and will form the Canadian arm of the North Carolina company. XDS Inc., which claims its SIMtone product is the first "digital dialtone" utility service that can be used to manage network and session connectivity, security and devices and deliver digital services, said the acquisition will "build on XDS's strategy focused on the growing desktop virtualization market." "The acquisition of Thintropy is the next step for XDS as the company plans to deliver additional SIMtone services to the enterprise and government sectors and, soon, to the mainstream consumer market," XDS said in its release. Thintropy founder Misha Nossik will serve as president of newly formed XDS Canada, which is the new consumer desktop services division of XDS. "With the SIMtone, XDS has created a pervasive new digital dialtone that enables Thintropy to deliver consumer desktop environments to any device simply and effectively, without any complicated requirements for the user," said Mr. Nossik in a statement. "XDS and Thintropy together will change the way people access all aspects of their digital lifestyle, anytime, anywhere, securely over the Internet." Thintropy was founded by Mr. Nossik in 2004 "in response to the need for an affordable, easy-to-use alternative to personal computing," the company said, and has since been operating in stealth mode. XDS, which is a privately held company, declined to disclose any details of its funding. The company has about 40 employees. |
