From its inception, the SIMtone was designed to be open. Protocol independence and device independence are fundamental attributes of the architecture. Similarly, our business strategy is to enable SIMtone Service Development Partners to develop their own services that can ride over the SIMtone and take advantage of its powerful attributes. Also, we will enable SIMtone Technology Development Partners to develop their own SIMtone-compliant terminal devices – either hardware- or software-based. SIMtone will provide toolkits for terminal and service development free of charge to our Development Partners.

Later this year the SIMtone Corporation will launch its SIMtone Connect program. Key elements of this program will include:

• A multi-tiered program structure with different participation levels, aimed at accommodating the needs of a wide variety of Partner types
• The SIMtone Service Development Toolkit which will enable Service Providers to easily and inexpensively develop their own SIMtone-compatible services
• The SIMtone Technology Development Toolkit which will enable Partners to develop SIMtone-compatible terminal products
