SIMtone VDU Business Desktop Service
The SIMtone VDU (Virtual Desktop Utility) is the integrated Business Desktop service offering of SIMtone Corporation, that provides Businesses with a choice of turnkey, SLA-based SIMtone service plans, dedicated installation and support, hi-availability servers and configurations and discounted SNAP terminals, for a low monthly fee.
SIMtone VDU service plans offer both seamless access to SIMtone or other existing corporate desktop servers, as well as business continuity/disaster recovery plans. The SIMtone VDU is practically plug and play. Its activation on the corporate network generally requires less than four hours, after which, any number and any mix of Desktop Servers can be used from the SIMtone, providing unparalleled business agility with no upfront investment required, seamless employee mobility inside and outside the offices, and complete security. The SIMtone VDU service consists of 3 integrated components: (1) the SIMtone VDU service itself, (2) Desktop Servers installed in the Enterprise's Data Center, and (3) SNAPs – universal clients which can be either a small, plug&play terminal, or software for PCs. The SIMtone VDU provides a single service for all forms of access: LAN, Corporate WAN, Remote Access, Offshoring/Outsourcing/Partners, and Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery / Pandemic, allowing Enterprises to deliver secure desktop computing services on-demand, and the fly, to any employee no matter where they are located. It eliminates all company-owned, managed-network equipment and software assets required for an employee to connect and seamlessly access his or her desktop. The employee simply enters her/his username and password on any SNAP, connected inside or outside the company firewall. The SIMtone VDU enables the consolidation of several independent, currently-dedicated Enterprise desktop and network infrastructures (such as internal desktop management systems, remote access systems, and business continuity / disaster recovery / pandemic systems), into a single, centralized, highly-available, and low-cost Virtual Cloud Computing Desktop infrastructure, based on commodity computing and network assets. The SIMtone VDU makes enterprise desktop servers manageable from anywhere and securely usable and accessible from any point on the Corporate LAN or the Internet - on demand. |
We believe that the concept of utility computing and, more specifically, the use of virtualization, can be applied to the corporate desktop environment to improve performance, increase flexibility, and reduce operating and capital expenses. Combining virtualization technologies to separate the three primary components of the traditional desktop infrastructure stack can produce what we have dubbed a "Virtual Desktop Utility."
